Managing an IT Classroom Environment (Vi)
I would like to talk about perceptual vs conceptual variation and how the main focus should be on the topic of exploration--maybe that's a poem, a science experiment, learning a song, whatever. Learning occurs when learners are engaged with whatever it is that they are learning. Anything we wish our learners to learn must have a variety of presentation formats--whether perceptual or conceptual or a combination of both. The type of technology and how it is integrated must be done in such a way as to enhance the learning of the concept. In my mind managing an IT classroom environment is no different from managing any classroom environment--if that classroom environment is truly focused on student learning. The technology component, whatever it is and however it is being used, will almost be invisible, as what is important is the concept(s) being learned.
